Hello, We're Chapman & Son

I originally started taking photos of my sister’s skating team back in my teens with my parents’ 35mm Pentax film camera with a telephoto lens. As I grew older, I began using a Canon point-and-shoot camera, capturing pretty much everything for fun on family outings. As I became an adult, I started to use a DSLR camera — a Canon XSi — which was a big jump up in the world of photography. Being a father of two inquisitive youngsters, especially my son Dylan, there was rarely a time that I wasn’t passing it over to Dylan to take photos. Then it began… I knew that I had to get another DSLR camera, as the one I had had now become the property of Dylan.

I bought myself a Canon 60D body and used the lenses we had along with the XSi. I started going to more and more events, concerts, etc., and became more and more proficient at taking photos. Things really started to grow on me, and it became a passion to see how well the photos would turn out.

The years continued to go by, and the more I developed my skills, the more I passed on what I could to my son. To date, we continue to better ourselves every time we shoot photos. Things continued to get better with what we were photographing, and in the past two years, we have taken thousands of photos and have begun to really see the passion develop more and more. As the months and years go by, we now feel we need to be able to share our skills. This has truly become my passion and lifelong dream — to own my own company doing something that has not only become a passion, but something I see myself retiring from, leaving a very successful business to my kids and grandkids for the future.
